Experience the 8th wonder of the world first hand as you navigate between two oceans through the Panama Canal, aboard a sailboat, as part of a crew.
Panamore is one of the first agencies to offer this service in Panama.
Every year many sailors navigate the Panama Canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific or vice versa. The passage of a boat takes 24 to 36 hours, most of them, are spent in slow navigation, crossing Lake Gatun with picturesque landscapes of jungle and lagoon.
During the passage through the canal you’ll play the essential role assisting the captain as a linehandler.
The linehandler has to perform only one task (only while the boat is inside the locks), collecting or releasing a rope following the directives of an officer of the Panama Canal Authority.
It is a simple operation and easy to perform regardless of experience.
The remainder of the time is free to live this unique experience: “Slowly the landscape will flow over your eyes amid historical engineering, lush jungle and overwhelming landscapes. Further sights include the majestic bridges (el Centenario and Las Americas). You’ll divide your time relaxing, taking pictures and chatting with the captain as he shares his experiences at sea.”
During the crossing it will be possible to cook, eat snacks and have soft drinks (strictly non-alcoholic), each person will have a bed to sleep.
Panamore is offered as a communications agency, collecting the requests of the captains, and those of aspriring linehandlers.
Our task is to put the two parties in contact.
It’s the responsibility of the captain and the linehandler to agree previously to the boarding of the vessel.
Most captains offer linehandlers this experience for free, some ask for a small share of food expenses.
All (or most) require that they be paid a small deposit (30/40 usd) to be assured of the seriousness of the linehandler intentions.
Get ready to live a unique experience, every week we have sailing ships crossing the canal!
